I thought her whole complaint against letsrun/dyestat was that she just wanted to be an athlete first.
When all is said and done, she might actually be a better marketer than Deano.
yes, you are right. they were talking about the Washington Post article and how she did not wish to be a sex symbol. how it was upsetting to her and her family
i think she would have to wear an fully covered robe to not be viewed as a sex symbol.
she is a very attractive female with a great athletic body in a sport were spandex is performance oriented. i dont she can avoid the status.
Fox news is exploiting that poor girl. Where are the morals at that place? I bet Hillary had something to do with this.

Fox News sucks. They like to act all high and mighty...Christian conservatives and moral authority, but then they run a story about her just because it's titilating. Bunch of right-wing biases hypocrite SOBs.
Fox News...Typical. They run more tabloid and salacious stories than any other "news" outlet and then always feign outrage and look about for something "liberal" to blame. So, so shameless.
Ha, titillating, that's a funny word.
Fox News cracks me up the way that they try to come off as so pious and the moral barometer of our Nation, and yet they have all of these MILF's as their anchors, usually sporting tons of cleavage.
What a bunch of hypocrites!
Do as I say, not as I do!!!
Where's a picture of the hottie? I have a new loofah to break in. What say you?
I have been to a few non-track related sites and the sites have an unhealthy lust of Stokke.
One article said that an interview of her had over 143,000 views. This was before the Fox news report. This is a weird story.
She must be a smart girl getting into Cal. She is one of the best in the state in her event and won state as a freshman.
She doesn't have to use her looks to get ahead. And she didn't go out to seek publicity based upon her looks.
I didn't see the interview but that would be my guess what she said. And I don't blame her dad for being a little concerned that some whack job might stalk her. It would be easy to find out where she will be since everyone knows her high school and where the state meet will be.
This whole issue is bull shit. How many female athletes have traded not only on their athletic ability but their looks: Natalie Gulbis (golf), tennis: pick one. Track/road running: pick among many who have graced the covers of running mags over the past 25 years. Stokke should be charging for interviews and signing autographs on 8X10 glossies so when she finishes school as a top vaulter she can capitalize on her awesome talent and if talent ain't enough her excellent bod. Get famous, stay famous and wait for the checks to roll in.
you're an asshole

I am always puzzled as to why people seem to lose perspective so easily. Most of the bloggers on the net can't wait for the next Anna Kournakova. But that is them, and not the athlete in question.
Stokke is barely 18 years old.
She has plenty of time to capitalize on her good looks. But my guess is that she will make the NCAA Finals as a freshman, and go onto do even greater heights as her track and field career progresses. Again, she has plenty of time ahead of her to cash in on what our "pop" culture deems as sexy and beautiful.
Good story complete with hot picture.
Sounds like she has it all figured out and she has some good parents.

I saw the report today then found this article in the Washington Post:

I think she should turn the tables a little. Take to the air and promote the sport of Track and Field and Pole Vaulting. Promote the sport by getting teen girls involved. Have her talk about the benefits of Track and Pole Vaulting and how it makes for a healthy lifestyle. With obesity a major problem in the U.S. it's not a bad idea. Turn this negative into something somewhat positive. Make her a role model for young teen girls.

And tell teen girls that older men will be undressing you with their eyes - and think that is it ok.
Inspiring the yutes of America on the positive benefits of pole vaulting?
hehe. Right.
$$$$
"Oh thousands of men think I'm gorgeous, my life is so bad." Cry me a freaking river! I'm sorry but this girl needs to put a positive spin on this. She's a sex symbol and she can use that to her advantage. She doesn't have to sell out and pose nude or anything, but she could model should her pole vaulting career come to a screeching hault....or even if it doesn't she could supplement her income by capitalizing on her God given good looks.
