I ran 1.56/3.59/4.18 in high school and finished top 30 in nation in cross before moving to uni and giving up the sport for 6 years. I also stupidly started smoking for first 18 months after quitting running and have done occasionally since then. Last year I quit and got up to 50 miles a week but in the last six months I started again. Today was my first run since then and I was absolutely shocking. Is there any chance of getting back in to shape and how should i go about it?
