Pretty vague...my guess is he pissed off a few people, which all coaches do from time to time, and this is their way of getting in their shots..

From what I have heard, Chapman is still teaching at IU. Also, I was told that the Indiana Elite Team was going to be staying in Bloomington with Chapman regardless of whether he is coaching at IU or not.

At the next Spike Shoe event, make a point to ask some of the ladies who ran under Helmer what they think of him. You will find one or two women who sing him praise and a the rest will explain how poorly he treated them while at Georgetown.
You should not assume that he is a great person just because of his coaching record.
If your Henner and you don't get offered the head coaching job how can you possibly stay at Gtown?
Henner doesn't really like DC/Nova anyway because he's not allowed to fire off his guns in his backyard. (true story)
the balls got cut off GU track back when Gags left, it hasn't been the same since.

I hear Hubers is going to Kennesaw State now??
Ben Hubers is not going to Kennesaw State! This is complete and utter madness! Who ever made this up is out of their flipping mind!
Ben is not going to KSU. That would for sure be the END of his career. Kennesaw is by far the worst option for any runner.
Ben can go to IU and be coach by Henner, who is the success behind Helmer! Or he can ask for a National Letter of Intent Complete Release from IU and this will allow him to talk to other schools.
My advice... NO IU if Chapman is gone!
DW
Kennesaw State was a top 10 D2 school. How is that the worst option for any runner?
Chapman is completely gone.
Helmer is not bringing Henner.
Recruits are coming because I am sure they don't care enough about who is going to be their coach, have to file to get released from a NLI, and find a place where they're going to be given a full scholarship.
any recruit that leaves because they wont' be coached by chapman is a fool. even his superstud recruits underachieved and were wildly inconsistent.
i agree. name more than 5 major players on the ncaa stage during chapman's tenure.
Jeffesron won ncaa mile indoors once.
Other Jefferson was runner up indoors once.
They sucked at XC.
Haas could only run early fast times and then get killed at NCAA's.
Chorney was probably his best and he was only coached by Chapman for a year.
Under Chapman
--Indiana made NCAA's in XC 5 times in a 6 year stretch. How many other schools did the same?
--Here are the athletes who qualified to NCAAs under Chapman and the number of times they did
S. Jefferson - 2x indoor, 2x outdoor
J. Jefferson - 3x indoor, 2x outdoor
Haas - 3x indoor, 2x outdoor
Powers - 1x indoor, 1x outdoor
Burns - 2x outdoor
They also had an indoor DMR one year make NCAAs. Add that up, and that's 18 NCAA qualifiers over the last 6 years. Two of those guys were walk ons.
How many other schools had more men's distance qualifiers over the last 6 years? It can't be more than about 8-10 schools.
Chapman did a pretty solid job.
Hoya track alum is right on. If you have never run for him, you have no idea how he really treats women. He is a great guy when interacting with other coaches or with recruits. Anyone who has not actually been a part of the program cannot speak. Most women who ran for him do not have fond memories, and can recount many incidents of manipulation and nastiness that stayed with them until long after they were out of the Hoya uniform. He'll certainly get results at IU but if you watch closely, at least 2 out of 3 members of each class will be destroyed in the process.
Tee hee!
Word on the street is that Helmer is buying the ice-luge at the next Christmas party as a going away gift to the team.
I'll holla at you later Daniels.
Kennesaw men were top ten once and the women a couple of times. Not because of coaching... only because 90% of the teams were foreign professionals.
Coach McGarey is the only coach there with any running knowledge.

When talking about elite level runners... they do decide on a school based on coaching. For someone like Hubers, the coaching is the most important aspect for his development. Look at Webb!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
