What is the A&M coach like?
he's a lot like that. maybe a couple of years older.
obviously I was looking for something to go on besides what the athletic department writes up. What is he like as a person. Is he a womanizer like the former UT coach? is he honest?
Hartmann is a solid guy. He ran for Dave Delong (Lauren Fleshman's HS Coach) at Canyon High School in Southern California. I've never heard a bad word about him. Knowledgeable about the scientific side of the sport as well. One of the better young collegiate coaches in the country.
My college coach knows coach Hartmann well and speaks very highly of him. And, the numerous times that I have been in his presence he has always been polite, humerous and seems like an overall good person.
Having competed against and coached against I can say that Dave is a class act. He has done wonders for A&M and really knows how to get his kids ready to roll when it matters. He can take the decent kids out of hih school and make them pretty damn good in college. He was a stud himself whil at UT San Antonio.
Dave is a tool!!!!! He is a arrogant prick who thinks because he is a college coach that he is too good! What athletes has he really coached? He has lived on taking over great programs.
bump
you get turned down asking for a scholarship or something? sorry to hear that.
Bump
He has coached Melissa Gulli a 7 time all american, Scott Lengenfeld a all-american, and ANdrea Bookout an all-american, so he has produced some outstanding athletes. BUMP!
Hartman is a solid coach, came into a distance program that was awful and has really turned it around. The coach before him, Greg Hinze, was negative, egotistical, hot-headed, and would hit on his female athletes - that was why so many of the distance people (women in particular) would quit, even after he recruited them. The other coaches at A&M (Ed Marcinkiewicz, Ted Nelson, Juan DeLa Garza, & Abe Brown) are good and help support a good team.

If you are going to slander someone by name, at least have the balls to use your real name. You are a gutless jackass.
I would use my name but had run for Hinze for 2 years before I decided it was in my best interest to not run for him because of the way he treated us so I transferred and finished my running career on a great note.
Just saying that Dave is a really good coach and people can succeed with him.
From experience, Greg Hinze is not a very approachable coach, but that could just be his style.

Are you f***ing kidding me?!? What "great" programs has he taken over. UTSA was never a powerhouse, yet Dave's first year there as Distance Coach he get's the men's team to Nationals, and , correct me if I'm wrong, it was the first time in the history of the program. He may have had a team already there in place, but Flanagan didn't get them there. Then he get's hired as the A&M coach and again produced a decent team.
The guy is a great motivator, makes his kids work hard.
As for what athletes has he really coached, well there is your answer to his ability. He never has had any real top athletes yet he get results.
