Seeing LR's link to the new IAAF web site, I saw that the IAAF had records easily accessible from their menu, with some nifty statistics. I poked around, just to be sadenned by what I saw.
On the men's side:
3,000m

European record: Mohammed Mourhit
5,000m

European record: Mohammed Mourhit
10,000m

European record: Mohammed Mourhit
3,000m Steeple:

WR: Boulami 7:53 (awaiting ratification. does it matter? his ratified 7:55 is the WR anyway...)
On the women's side:
3,000m:
http://www.iaaf.org/statistics/records/gender=W/allrecords/discipline=3000/index.html
WR: Junxia Wang. Hmm, part of Ma's army. Legit? Can't say for sure. Doubtful... sure is.
10,00m:
WR: Junxia Wang. Legit? Not many people believe so. Possibly. Refer to 3,000m.
This has probably been pointed out time after time, but it's a little disappointing.
