Reaganites backing Thompson who's attending major fundraisers across the country. Hillary and Obama should be very afraid.

RUN Fred Run!
Yeah he's tall and gruff and charismatic and all that, but if you start to examine his positions on issues, you get a lot less excited.
his positions are more likely to get him elected than Rudy and McCain combined. He's a true small government conservative, power to the states.
No other candidate so far has positions that will ignite the base and get them to the polls.
Don't believe the hype.

thompson has a lot of work to do to even win the republican primary.
all this excitement still has him polling only 3rd.
this is like josh mcdougal running 3:56 all by himself in march.
talk to me in a couple months.

i think his positions on the issues ARE the reasons he is being courted to run.
right now there is no excitement republican side for any of the candidates. almost all could be moderate democrats. it is because he is a social conservative that he is attracting attention. i understand that you may not agree with him, but many do and it is those people who are supporting him. i suspect he could be a formidable force if he runs.
my guess is he will run. he has already announced he had cancer, that is now in remission. there would be no need to get that out if he was not planning to run, or at least thinking about it seriously.
he would give people a clear choice of ideologies if he ran.
i hope he does.
running third for a guy not in the race seems pretty good to me. just think what he'll be running when he actually tries, as opposed to romney, mccain and rudy spending tons of cash and not capturing convincing leads anywhere
Who cares who the next prez will be. Anyone is better then Bush.
really, Dick Cheney is better than bush? I'm sure he's glad he has your support. Unfortunately for you he is not running

Having cancer is pretty much de rigeur for Republican presidential candidates these days, isn't it?

this guy isn't going to last 2 seconds when the christianists get ahold of him.
did you hear his press conference today when he referred to his womanizing days? and of course, he'll eventually be asked about the death of his daughter from a drug overdose.
dobson said the other day that he doesn't think thompson is a "christian."
social conservative nothing.
Ron Paul

I don't think this is bad for a guy who has not spent a dime and is not even in the race.

Who hasn't had some tragedy in their lives? This one is a non-issue.

I don't think this will turn out right. It is the social conservatives that are urging him to run.
Dobson caught so much flack from his own followers that he immediately backed off his idiotic statement that Fred Thompson is not a "Christian."
Anyone that tries to attack him because his daughter had some troubles will come off looking far worse than Fred Thompson does.
Social conservatives have not abandoned Cheney over his wacky daughter.
I think you misunderestimate social conservatives. :)
Why is she wacky?
I am sure of very few things in politics, but one is this...that we, and the media, have to stop paying any attention to what James Dobson wants or thinks. And if the media IS going to go to him, how about at least ONE semi-hard question for him...starting with how he actually thinks all these threats to "traditional families" are in fact threats. Is anybody telling him he can't have his "traditional family?"

the media will stop paying attention to him once the republicans stop paying attention to him.
until then, he remains a guy who gets press. he's the republican answer to al sharpton.
Pat Buchanan
Ron Paul
Fred Thompson
Mitt Romney
The GOP has some firepower for BOTH POTUS and VPOTUS this time around.
I discount the darlings of the media.
