That was a very good article and presents both sides of the argument. Coach White has obviously been an excellent coach, but I can see the administration's position as well. I'd like to know who said it was kosher for him to use an online college for his degree...the article doesn't mention if the name was omitted for privacy concerns or if Coach White doesn't remember who it was. In fact, I'm surprised he was hired for a head coaching job without a master's degree in the first place...I always thought most college athletic programs required them. The "coach" from Benin (who has no knowledge of track and field?) is also a major issue...it seems like White was doing the right thing by helping a guy get another job, but you've got to play by the (very strict) rules when it comes to visas. That puts the college in a very tight spot.
It seems like the administration's decision (no matter how unfair it may seem to the athletes) was just. The sticking point for me is who in the administration okayed his online degree and if that confirmation is documented.
