The Chinese female winner (Zhou) kept track of all her mile splits throughout the race, pressing the watch.
I remember seeing her predecessor, Sun - the low arm carriage female runner from China, when she ran the 5000/10.000 in the Olympics (Athens) and she pressed her watch after every lap......unreal. Don't you think it is a waste of energy to do that, in an Olympic final? I mean her coaches and assistants should be able to take care of that task and show her her splits after the race!
Zhou looked great throughout the race. I knew early on, that she would run well. Kiplagat looked heavy legged, and you could tell that she had a lot less spring in her legs compared with Zhou, who ran like a well oiled machine.
