great job Hall shatters US debut record
AMERICAN RUNNING IS BORN AGAIN. A REAL AMERICAN RUNNING THIS WELL, WOW, GREAT JOB!!
whats the american record for marathon??
If you don't count Khalid K's 2:07 and Abdi's 2:08
and Salazar's NYC 2:08:13 which was found to be short.
Today, Ryan Hall's 2:08:24 would be the true American Born New American Record!
Awesome-- as a Brit, watching him today was inspirational-- hes such a gutsy guy! He did you Americans proud today-- maybe now he will get the "big up" he deserves!

Why would you count either Abdi's 2:08:56 or Alberto's short course?

207? you mean 205:38? Khalid's 208 was his first marathon as an American, not his fastest.
People, Abdirahman ran SLOWER than Ryan Hall, so Abdi's performance is IRRELEVANT.
Ryan Hall is the FASTEST AMERICAN-BORN MARATHONER OF ALL-TIME. And that is a legitimate title, with no racial undertones. Just plain fact. Period. Accept it for what it is... the fastest marathon time ever produced by an American-born.
Thanks for the correction. Right On!
abdi ran 2:08 before?
Actually it is a little racists and discriminatory.
Because if you are a true American (which I don't believe you are by your statement) then you believe in the Constitution of the United States of America and what it stands for.
Since the Constitution says that KK is an American I think that means any of your points that you are attempting to make makes you un-American.
I'm betting that if you lived back in the 1870s you would claim that any records broken by an African American were not real America records because the African American was born a slave and was not a true American. I hope your get my point.
I know I hijacked the thread a little bit but I can't stand ignorant statements like this one.
In the end who cares about an American born record? IF you are a true American then you should only care about the American record. I bet you money that Hall isn’t sitting around right now cheering that he got the American born record. He wants the American record with no strings attached.
GREAT RUN BY HALL
I'll bet you that Hall is jazzed for running a) the fastest debut ever by an American and b) going straight to #2 on the US all-time list. I'm sure that he'd love to see himself unseat Khannouchi for the #1 spot, and Mahon and Vigil will be turning the wheels to figure out the path over the next few years to get there.
who cares what he shattered, he ran a 2:08!
a 2:08 in not that great of weather, and as a debut.
even if it was his 10th marathon and perfect weather 2:08 is great.
What surprises me is that a 2:08 is only good for 7th place. The Marathon is become ultra-competitive today.
Did you see the field they assembled? It's the best in the world.
if you don't like ignorant statements why attract attention to them by commenting on them?
this is the like the media giving that loathesom Rev. Fred
Phelps and his ilk publicity by running stories when they attend G.I. funerals...ignore them, they will dry up and blow away
My guess is you're wrong. I'd say Hall is very proud to be the fastest american born marathoner ever. But either way we'll never know unless we're his closest friend that he tells his secret to. To be the first American-born is important. No racial undertones at all. No he's not the fastest american ever and may never be the fastest american, but he's the fastest american born like tergat is the fastest kenyan born. Regardless of citizenship, everybody has to be from somewhere, and where Hall is from, he is the fastest marathoner ever. So yes, I'd say it is important.

"No racial undertones". What a crock of shit. The fact that you feel the need to mention it in the first place provides all the racial undertones needed. Because (like Abdi's performance) the fact is irrelevant in the first place.
Fastest marathon by potential US presidental candidate. Is this less racist?
Hall is from California, not the U.S.
