Can anyone direct me to a site with the splits for world record 800ms (or some quick ones). Wondering if there's a trend of even/positive/negative splitting.

Well, someone will find the site, but I can assure you the trend is first lap about 3-4sec faster than the second lap. The first 200 is usually fastest.
always positive splits (for any modern WRs)
48.1 (rabbit) enroute to 1:41.24
then
49.0 (rabbit) enroute to 1:41.11 (may have been 49.66; I can't remember which).
its my belief that and all-out effort attempt at a WR (or, for that matter, a PR) should be a decent positive split..
this goes for basically every distance...
the longer the race, the greater the possibility of running really fast with a negative split, but to reach your personal limits, I think you have to go with a positive split
800 should be positive splits. You can run the first 200 faster than race pace before you go anaerobic. If you run at race pace, you cannot make up that time in the last 400.
The mile should be even or slightly negative and everything longer should be negative.
800m is more closely related to 400m in this regard - ie the physiology of racing these distances - go hard - hang on - try to minimize the fade.
1500m and up isn't like this, however. Positive splits are not recomended these distances.
It's the first part that's anaerobic -- that's why you slow down because of all the lactic acid you've produced in the first 45-60s.
