If you have alums that are training for olympics, I think they too can use facilities. Think about when Sully, Broe, Grant R, Berryhill, and Willis were training together with the guys on the UM team!

Justin Young should go to Bloomington. Didn't he grow up there or something?
J. Young is part of a better group (right now) in a better place (better weather, at altitude) and, oh yeah, where his business is located.
So many haters on this message board! Come on, chapman is trying to do nothing more than help athletes reach their goals in running. People on here need to be positive and support their fellow athletes and coaches. I think it the group sounds like a great option for up and coming runners who need some support with housing, training partners, and facilities.
What has Chapman done? Brian Sullivan WAS a sub 9 min 3200 guy in HS. Tim McLeod was low 9 minutes. McCreary ran 4:13 for the mile in HS. So far these guys have done nothing or have left because they have done nothing. The racing schedule for Haas is laughable. Europe??? The guy has done nothing in the US. He ran 13:41 once. He went on to run 14 flat outdoors that year. Chorny is a non factor on the US level much less the international level. They may as well go get an apartment in Arkansas and get better coaching.
haas as run 13:41 3 times, twice indoor and once outdoor. he also ran 7:51.0 for 3k indoors. how many collegians have run faster than 7:51 indoors. i can't think of that many at all. i know its faster than solinskys run and hes pretty good. i think a few injuries have kept him from running faster.
Unable to Justify, You mentioned two guys that havent developed as well as everyone thought they would of, but what about all the runners that have improved under his coaching. Fisrt off if you think Chapman can't coach what do you think about Vig? Since sullivan transfered to Texas he has run less races and put up even worse times.
There are tons of guys that have made huge improvements under chapman. Look at Jordan Kyle as a redshirt freshman he was all american in cross and has run 14:03. His high school Pr in the 3200m was 9:20 something.
Some of you may not like Chapman's coaching methods or his athletes improvements, but the group and opportunities he is putting together is rare in our sport. Give him a little time to develop this group and develop the athletes involved and then go about judging it. Kudos to Chapman for taking a risk and doing something positive for the sport.
Your ripping Chapman for being responsible for the performance of a couple of highly recruited and talented high school athletes who did not possess the maturity to balance being student athletes while at the college level. They remained "kids" when they got to school instead of becoming adults.
Lots of "talented" kids come from situations that are condusive for training. Mommy does the laundry, cooks dinner, etc. In college, you are responsible for yourself a bit more and you have more freedom. Sullivan, McLeod, etc. They could not balance it very well and adapt. Haas is another good example of that before he got healthy and found balance in his life while a student athlete. He was a flop until his 4th year at school.

I guess the following excerpt explains why we need a training group in Bloomington and on in Indy.
"Bloomington, in particular, has had success courting gays and lesbians as tourists and residents. A 2005 article In/Out Traveler ranked the city fifth in the country for same-sex-couple households per capita, behind San Francisco, Santa Fe, N.M., Portland, Maine, and Miami.
"We refer to ourselves as a little blue island in a sea of red," said Rob DeCleene, director of tourism for the Bloomington Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The city began marketing itself to gays and lesbians back in 2000 and later created a specialized visitors guide and Web site,
http://www.visitgaybloomington.com
. The second edition of the guide comes out this year.
interesting how you know that link.

what's up? why not just join the Invaders? Is Bob Kennedy supporting this club?
They wouldnt join the invaders b/c they are a joke. honestly when did they produce a runner that actaully did something? Thats right, they havent.
IU is a great town to train in, good facilities, and i think they will do very well. we need mroe of these groups to pop up.
