Team Indiana Elite, a track and field training group focusing on elite men’s distance runners, formally announced their formation on Monday. The elite training group, based in Bloomington, Indiana, receives significant support from Indiana University. The group is headed by Indiana University men’s distance coach, Robert Chapman.
The mission of Team Indiana Elite is to provide a group training environment and key living, training, and support resources for committed, elite distance runners, with a goal of helping athletes make U.S. national teams and achieve international success.
Key resources provided to members of the group include: free housing in university graduate student apartments, free access to university athletics facilities and community trails, and free coaching.
Resources are available to support up to eight athletes in full time residence. Three athletes are currently on the roster, and the group is accepting applications for the final five slots.
