I have been sidelined since December 12th following an indoor 5k race. I began feeling some pain in the medial attachment on the upper quad/knee area. I lifted and swam for three months, iced, motrin, massage.
Tried going to a chiro and ortho. The doctor did an x-ray and mri. Neither of which turned up anything significant. The ortho said it could be a plica, but no way to tell without scoping.
I would rather not go through surgery if there is any other alternative.
I am running now 2 weeks at 20 min 3-4 days a week, but my knee gets really stiff and is crunchy at the attachment. It makes me walk a little funny, but the running doesn't seem to be to strange. I still ice, stretch, foam roll.
Any suggestions or doctor/pt/chiro/massage referrals in the Boston/Methuen MA area would be greatly appreciated.
