How about Fasil Bizuneh finishing the race at World Cross Country despite undoubtedly feeling like shit. He was U.S.'s #1 runner through most of the race, but faded to finish 129 while it seemed like he must have willed himself to complete that last lap while succumbing to the reported heat and humidity....
I know it would have been easy to drop out in those conditions when a 1/4 of the entire field (including arguably the greatest distance runner that the world has ever seen) drops out of the race...
I've known Bizuneh since high school in Indiana and he doesn't quit..
It would have been great to see how Culpeper, Goucher, Ritz, Torres would have competed, but I'm proud that a guy like Fasil was representing the United States. Although we didn't finish as high as we should have, I'm proud of the U.S. team.
I know that he is going to run the London Marathon, after running two 1/2 marathons in 1:02 this winter, I suspect he's going to bounce back strong...
