... Greenland ...
Greenland is part of Europe? Seriously? Makes no sense.
So, what IS the continent that Australia is part of. When I grew up it was called the continent of Australia, but I've seen recently something called Oceania that includes maybe Indonesia, the Phillipines, etc.
Any geography whizzes out there?
I would have lost the $300,00 on this question is what I guess I'm saying.
I'm pretty sure there are only a handful of people on this message board who are smarter than a 5th grader. Half of them probably still ARE 5th graders.
Pete, Greenland is a territory of Denmark which is part of Europe.

yes, that is true, but largely irrelevant to the discussion. being a colony is not necessarily part of the definition of 'continentality' (whatever) - no one claims that BVI or the Netherlands Antilles are part of Europe, etc.
Duh, It is Singapore. Ok, just kidding
It is Australia. Oceania is not a continent it is a not to clearly defined region. The orginal name was coined by Originally coined by the French explorer Dumont d'Urville in 1831.
However technically Australia is only the mainland of the continent of Australia.
Unfortunately these people probably fall under the "average" category. Anyone with a slight ability to reason or solve a semi-abstract problem is rocket scientist material. Take a look around you at the grocery store, or mall, idiots are everywhere.

I'm pretty sure it's detroit

I am pretty sure you are wrong and it is Australia... Just a wild guess Tho.
You misspelled Austria. The land of skiiers and birthplace of Hilter and Schwarzenegger! That is the only country to be its own continent
No, the right answer is the Great Red Spot on Jupiter.
The lady did say North America is a Country. She deserves nothing.

FW, was this woman hot? Because there's a thread for this!
I NEVER think women without a brain are hot, no matter what they look like -- see Jennifer Love Hewitt.
What continent is New Zealand part of? Asia? Or can we consider it its own continent on the basis of plate tectonics? I know that when people ask, "what is the only continent that is also a country," you're supposed to answer, "Australia," and so this woman is an idiot, but I think it's also a stupid question.

Yea i don't think the sandwich plate has its own continent
New Zealand is considered an island, not attached to Australia means it isn't part of the continent. It isn't based on plate tectonics (if that was the case, India would be its own continent, as would Madagascar and many other places)
Australia is also an island, but its size has led it to be classified as a continent (same thing with Antarctica). It isn't a stupid question, there are 7 continents, Australia is the only one that is also a country. Not hard, not ambiguous, you're just thinking too hard about it.

"Not attached to Australia means it isn't part of the continent" -- this isn't true because Australia has several islands, like Tasmania, that are part of the country. New Zealand happens to be a separate country, so is that the only reason it isn't part of the continent?
I think the concept of "continent" is vaguely defined in general. Who defines what a continent is? They aren't political entities... Why is there this ambiguity between whether the proper continent is Oceana or Australia? Is there a well-defined line for each continent? Why can't India be its own continent (it is certainly called a subcontinent on occasian)? Is every country in the world part of a continent? Wikipedia (which is never wrong :p )says, "They are generally identified by convention rather than any strict criteria, but seven areas are commonly reckoned as continents..." I love the use of the word "reckoned." There are several conventions for what constitutes a continent, one convention is that the country of Australia is also a Continent.
I think a better question would be, "Which country is considered by some to also be a continent?" Although most people should know how to answer either way.
PANGAEA!!!
And yet, apparently there are a great many of you that watch this crap. If you didn't, it would soon cease to exist.
I miss The OC. I can't believe it was replaced with this crap.
