bump
They are really cool, laid back and know how to have good time.
However girls are stupid and brainless.
that is all what you need to know
tough competition = bad school.
i know someone thats going there right now, and they made him redshirt his whole xc season. bunch of bullcrud if you ask me.
Are they stupid, brainless, and hot at least?
And redshirting can be great, you can run a lot faster at 23 then you can at 18 most of the time
i completely understand the physiological reasoning for red-shirting, but i could not handle it mentally.
i would get too anxious and quit the team, i cant believe anyone can get throwed around by a coaching regimen for a year WITHOUT any racing. racing is my payday, its when i take all of my money out of the bank that i have deposited at practice.
Can't say much for the campus life, but I'm a big fan of the program. Very respectable and is heading the right direction. Coach Dave Smith is an honest guy and is doing a great job with the team. Over the next few years they should make the jump from being a consistent top 10 team to being a solid trophy contender in cross. If you go there you'll be giving yourself a great opportunity to really develop as a runner and be part of a good team.
like i said, its big competition.
i got a full ride to coffeyville and a half ride to UTEP.
I always thought that patience was part of the make up a solid distance runner??? And Cross country does not last a whole year.... Plus if your building a good bank account( a solid base) wouldn't the fall be the perfect time to build this account so that you can go spend happy in the spring and summer on the track and roads depending on your motivation??? Plus if you are that dam anxious couldn't you run unattached on the cross country and race some local 5 and 10 k's to quell your anxienty??? just food for thought or maybe pennies to put in your account that might draw some interest for you later when you might really need them.....
This program is really blossoming, in the next couple of years they will be one of the elite progams in the country (top 4 year in and year out). Also if you are not going to make the team then who cares if you are redshirting, more than likely your boy was not going to make it. They have legit talent and some kid from Oklahoma would probably not be able to hang with them. Probably the best thing that he could have done....
It really looks to me like they will be a top 5 team soon. Coach Smith seems to really know what he's doing and is a straight forward type of guy. All they need is a good, injury free year, and they could easily be top 5 right now, let alone in 4 years.
Lets not forget the Coach who has built the team to a consistant top 10 team year in and year out as well, Coach Weis, Coach Smith is recieving the reins and talent from a pretty great Coach in his own right....Weis basically built that team from scratch in the mid eighties to present, on the Mens side as well as the Womens side....
Weis has nothing to do with the womens team.
he has nothing to do with the women recently but if you do your history he actually had the women in the mid eighties and they were Nationally prominent as a team and individually, more so than the men at the time because we always seemed to come up short with a solid 5th man or solid 6th and seventh men to push or compete to be that solid 5th....
The mere fact your a 4:30 miler is a red flag you have no idea what goes on at the NCAA D1 level so I will give you that. Smart programs and coaches, and for the most part the athlete, know that one year more than likely will be a redshirt year to give an extra year of maturity. But if your already a slow ass like a 4:30 miler as a coach I can't help you anyway. Go to a Juco and hope you make the top seven
Got a half ride at UTEP..good luck. They have 30 Africans that run 4:30 for repeat miles. It appears that UTEP has wasted some money
If Peter Wood can run there, anyone can.
