I've got a 10 mile race in a month and i'm wondering what time i should aim for and train for. I've ran 15:53 for 5k and 9:09 for 3k.
I am on 45 miles a week but i have done alot of long runs so I don't think the distance will be a problem.
Thanks

Recently I've run 15:45, and I ran 54:56 shortly after that. The 15:45 was on a fast course, while the 54:56 was on a hilly course.
Some other variables:
*I tend to train with an emphasis on threshold and reps, so pure VO2 max power is not maxed. I'm in better long distance shape than 5K shape.
*I run 100 mpw.
*I'm 41.
Compare what you do to those variables, and there you go. Looks to me as if you're about where I am.
Oh, you could also go here:
Go out with the leaders. It's about the win, not the time. Show some guts out there. If its slow, push it. If its fast, hang on and do not let go. When you reach a point where your body is screaming to slow down, ask yourself, "What would Pre do?"
If you're as good at 10 miles as you are at the other distances, given equal weather conditions and a flat course, then 55:48.
