Something strange is happening to my legs at night while I sleep. It doesn't happened every night but is really annoying when it does and it makes my legs tired and sore.
While I am sleeping (usually in the very early morning hours) I will wake up and have an involuntary straightening and hard flexing of the muscles in my legs (thighs mainly). I'm not sure if this wakes me up or I awaken then it happens. It only happens for a few seconds and then I am able to get back to sleep. But if this happens for a few days in a row (several times night) my legs are somewhat sore and tired (as one might expect).
What is gong on? Any ideas?
I haven't noticed any connections between the type or intensity of training I am doing. I have also bought a new bed recently and it has happened multiple times in either bed.
One of my friends suggested it could a symptom of iron deficiency but I generally take a multi-vitamin with extra iron twice a week and have done this for a long time including periods (months) when this doesn't happen at all.
