Watching some Pete Maravich clips on the Web today (see below), I'm still astonished at his ability. It seems there's never been anybody like him.
Got me thinking. What was it about the 60s that produced outrageous talents like Pete, Jim, and Gerry, the likes of which we'll probably never see again?
Was it somehow, on a deep psychological level, related to the horrific wars that haunted us throughout the mid-20th century?
Was it that people then were just naive enough to take their dreams seriously?
