I am 18 years old and I run the mile and the half mile usually. I ran a 4:38 mile a couple months ago just on base work and no speed. I want to run about 4:21 and 1:57 this year which is probably very doable. However, I ran my first week of intervals this week and I noticed that my hamstrings are very tight. Its like a burning feeling and I feel like I can't kick at the end of an interval or race. Its about mid-hamstring and it didn't hurt all winter when I just did base work. A kinsesiologist said that my sternum was out of place which turned off the muscles in my hamstrings. This injury is very annoying--I can still run on it but it just kind of burns. Any advice would be appreciated.
