Mike, it might be too late, but it seems that Henry simply missed your invitation (his thread is so long!).Have a great time on Saturday!"If you check out the long running thread, you'll see that I had formally invited Henry and personally offered to pay airfare, hotel and meal money...the response was non-committal."
don't worry about Rono for this mile. He's not near ready to run a fast mile, even by his own admittance. Have a great weekend.

Results including age grading will be posted late Saturday
MF
Best of luck to my Golden West Athletics Club teammates Mike G. and Jeff A. !!!!!
Funny,
The mile is age graded. So it is 35+ I doubt I will have the best age graded time.
See you all tomorrow
Matt
by the way not the only sub 40 in the race, but I know it is easier to pick on me, I am sorry that the new Masters 35+ rule does not sit well with you.
Skate,
40 or not - you've been a big supporter of masters track and those of us crazy enough to keep at it - so I for one am more than happy to line up with you.
JM
Don't plan on out kicking Tony Nogueras, that guy can fly.
Good luck to all!
Thanks I apreciate that. Masters running is huge inspiration to me, I have nothing but admiration for all Masters athletes
Matt
Weather tommorow winds 8 mph 56 degrees and 30% chance of rain.
won't be able to stick around after the race, having a big 40 year Bday for the wife tomorrow.

Is Golden West new? Where do they train?

ahhhh, while I literally just drove back into Marin from SF, the weather on that side of the Golden Gate Bridge an hour ago is cool, VERY foggy and light winds...the beauty of competing at my alma mater Fan Francisco State University (go gators!)is that the track facility is set in a bowl...a virtually windless bowl...conditions will be somewhere between excellent and perfect for tomorrow morning's "Masters of the Mile"...biggest sporting event of the weekend within 3000 miles of Augusta, GA!
MF
Looking forward to seeing the results.
Note that the start list seems to indicate that the other thread asking masters what their current mile time (and weight) is is BS. That is, almost all the guys aver they can run below 5 and many below 4:30. While certainly a few can, most are dreamin.

The beauty of our sport is that it is so very black and white and quantifiable in both distance and time...lots of guys "say" that they can run XYZ time but until they actually do, its nothing but idle hearsay...running under 5 minutes for the mile at say age 45 or 50 sounds pretty easy on paper but hey, go on out there and actually do it before you have too much commentary on the occasion...and not 1600 meters but 1760 yardds thank you very much...we'll see some good stuff in SF tomorow morning at the "Masters of the Mile"...Augusta be damned!

12 guys under 5 minutes in Nocal at a meet that was put on in a couple weeks?
I don't know what your problem is. You are either ignorant or stupid. As I said in the other thread, a 17:15 5k is equivelant to a 5 minute mile. There were 34(THIRTY FOUR) masters at Carlsbad who ran faster than 17:15. You don't realize that the best runners post on letsrun? It should be no surprise that they run the best times and are not indicative of the average hobbyjogger at your hometown cure for cancer race.
rippy cripple,
Don't waste your time responding to jeb the troll. He continually makes that same statement even when links to the USATF Indoor Masters Championship were posted for his benefit, verifying that at least 32 40+ men ran sub 5 minute miles on an indoor track a few weeks ago. You're absolutely right that many of us post on the masters threads on letsrun, but I certainly am not going to enlighten him by cross-linking our names to our posting ids.
