BS. who pays their way? shoe companies. why? because they are entertainers, no different than any other athlete, movie star, porn star whatever.
Now let me ask you this ...how fvking entertaining is it to hear(lol...you will not be watching it) about how a bunch americans did running a road race...not very(it will probably 1 or 2 guys way ahead of everyone else)..right now people consider a 3:00hr marathoner, who wrote a book, about running ultras, one of the most entertaining distance runners in america ...Why?..
cause are distance runners fail miserably at their job...no their job isnt to run fast times...to train for some marathon in the far distant future...their job is to entertain...and until they suck it up and do that job...american running will be right were it belongs...to steps below the winter olympics, and the X games.

the norms of society in America. A sick RACIST nation.
Maybe they should put down the crack pip and pick up a book.
stop making excuses for yourselfs. as blacks we are constantly doing that to ourselves. the natives do that too. be the one to make a difference. when we were little we were told your gonna get in trouble because we were black. and what happened when we got in trouble? we automatically blamed race. Now don't get me wrong, there is still racism in this country, i know that but alot of the time it starts from here. if they dont wanna go to africa then who cares. its not about race its about feeling sorry for yourself. get out there and do something.
What is a crack pip?
There are a whole slew of reasons for having wanted to race in Boulder and not wanting to do another 12k cross country race six weeks later in Kenya. There are so many other things on runners' agendas - spring marathons and early season track 10,000s, just to name two. You can get direct flights to Edinburgh but not, by a long shot, to Mombasa.
I will not deny this is in some ways a racist nation, but individual decisions not to go to Mombasa are not racist.
I'm not sure what you just said as I don't speak whatever language you were usin, but I do know that the runners at issue here make a full time living at what they do. Unless you are holding the purse strings for the shoe companies you refer to, it doesn't matter if you are not happy with their decisions or not. The shoe companies would rather these athletes run in New York - much visibility to those who might buy shoes - than Kenya - little visibility to those who might be shoes. These athletes are smart business people and the only ones who hold their decision against them are, as I said earlier, codependents who think everyone in the world owes them something.
Brown versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person’s problem. We’ve got to take the neighborhood back. We’ve got to go in there. Just forget telling your child to go to the Peace Corps. It’s right around the corner. It’s standing on the corner. It can’t speak English. It doesn’t want to speak English. I can’t even talk the way these people talk. “Why you ain’t where you is go, ra.” I don’t know who these people are. And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk. Then I heard the father talk. This is all in the house. You used to talk a certain way on the corner and you got into the house and switched to English. Everybody knows it’s important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can’t land a plane with, “Why you ain’t…” You can’t be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth. There is no Bible that has that kind of language. Where did these people get the idea that they’re moving ahead on this. Well, they know they’re not; they’re just hanging out in the same place, five or six generations sitting in the projects when you’re just supposed to stay there long enough to get a job and move out.
Now, look, I’m telling you. It’s not what they’re doing to us. It’s what we’re not doing. 50 percent drop out. Look, we’re raising our own ingrown immigrants. These people are fighting hard to be ignorant. There’s no English being spoken, and they’re walking and they’re angry. Oh God, they’re angry and they have pistols and they shoot and they do stupid things. And after they kill somebody, they don’t have a plan. Just murder somebody. Boom. Over what? A pizza? And then run to the poor cousin’s house.
They sit there and the cousin says, “What are you doing here?”
“I just killed somebody, man.”
“What?”
“I just killed somebody; I’ve got to stay here.”
“No, you don’t.”
“Well, give me some money, I’ll go….”
“Where are you going?”
“North Carolina.”
Everybody wanted to go to North Carolina. But the police know where you’re going because your cousin has a record.
Five or six different children -- same woman, eight, ten different husbands or whatever. Pretty soon you’re going to have to have DNA cards so you can tell who you’re making love to. You don’t who this is. It might be your grandmother. I’m telling you, they’re young enough. Hey, you have a baby when you’re twelve. Your baby turns thirteen and has a baby, how old are you? Huh? Grandmother. By the time you’re twelve, you could have sex with your grandmother, you keep those numbers coming. I’m just predicting.
Maybe you should pick up books more often. That's p-i-p-e.
Hopefully this thread was a joke.
To the people who have....Thank-you for manipulting the racial tensions in our society to start trouble. My Grandma was born in and fled from Armenia. I'm sure she would have something to say about your casual exclamation of the term "racism" and I'm sure she would feel just fantastic knowing that people are still manipulating the pain and suffering of others (and still using the word "Uncle Tom" to jealously describe successful african americans) to prove stupid, trivial points. So many people have fought so hard, sacrificed so much to reduce racism to where it is now (and it ha smade a TREMENDOUS leap forward in the past 40 as far as collective, national ideology)...and all people can do is bitch. "Uncle Tom," you call them? Wow...I'm sorry, but if anything offends me, it's that lack of respect. I say that using that term in such a condescending manner puts you not far from the scum of the earth. People like you are sad and need desperately to grow up.

Get a life tool box
this a rather worthless messsage board not an essay test..im pretty sure you got what i meant...
and as our best runners backing out of international comp. their fan base will continue to be very limited
\"codependents who think everyone in the world owes them something\"
sorry i never said they owed me anything...Lance armstrong didnt owe \"us\" anything either...but when people were dying like flies in the heat of france..he went to france and kicked ass...and we loved it...
let me point something out to you..lance armstrong , after running almost an hour behind the world record STILL could probably pull a bigger appearance fee in any US marathon than most \"elite\" american distance studs.
You know why? because right now the only people who care at all about american distance running...are people who think PR\'s are more important than raceing..
Thats why people who dont even know what PR means wear PRE shirts...and thats why nike doesnt/couldnt sell red shirts that say \"Ritz\".
and if you cant read something above because i inverted letters or didnt use a comma....well pound sand
have you been to a european soccer games where they throw bananas and chant monkey sound when a black player enters the arena?
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY WRONG! - USATF plays a significant role in the career of every elite athlete. They host numerous championships from cross country, indoor and outdoor track to road races which provide opportunities to compete and earn prize money. If you make a championship team, they provide you with an expense paid trip to compete in whatever country the world championship is being held. They own, staff and operate the national training centers, provide athletes and coaching clinics, certification for coaches and officials, the conduct research on physiology, kinesiology, sports medicine, training, etc. and make their findings available to elite athletes and coaches. They also support many constituent track & field/running organizations such as the NCAA t&f championships, AAU, RRCA, etc. USATF runs USA Distance Center programs such as the Team Running USA, Team USA Minnesota and ZAP Fitness, which has made have made significant progress towards returning U.S. long distance running to the threshold of being competitive internationally. USATF runs "Be A Champion," a health initiative for young people which promotes fitness, fair play and the benefits of physical activity, particularly running, walking and other activities that require only a pair of athletic shoes. Most importantly, two thirds of all U.S. elite athletes started out in USATF sanctioned youth programs. Each year, 10s of thousands of kids enter high school with track & field as their sport of choice because of having participated in an age group program. W/o these youth programs, t&f in America as an organized sport would probably die. - True, each individual athlete has to put in the time and effort to excel, but USATF provides the infrastructure for our sport to exist.
There is something unique and special about representing your country, when you do that, you carry with you the hopes and dreams of a nation and the opportunity to inspire the next generation of track and field athletes. Every young athlete in America dreams of one day being able to put on the USA uniform; now we have a bunch of our best athletes saying that representing the USA is not such a big deal. NBA players are wealthy athletes under contracts with multi-million dollar teams and major corporate sponsors; they have nothing to gain monetarily from participating in a world-championship and when one or two athletes decides not to participate on a national team, we are all over them.
Forget about the Weather, Schedule, Vaccinations, Crime, etc., there are no real ‘good’ excuses for not doing World Cross other than you chose to place your personal goals over what’s best for American track and field. When you think about the fact that this is the first year World Cross is being held in an African country and it is the first time nearly all of our top athletes choose not to participate and the fact that ‘most’ of those athletes are White…one could easily conclude it is racist. However, I personally don’t think that is the case, I think you simple have a bunch of athletes who think they can benefit more by doing other things.
This is less to do with racism and more to do with the fact that American runners for the most part are candy asses. Yeah, I'll admit in the back of my mind I think about how those white boys might be freaked out by all those black people;however, if there was money involved everyone would be there. Too many of our guys have been spoon fed compared to what most Kenyan athletes have to go through. We're just weak not racist.
Yes that\'s correct. Eminem is white-skinned but BLACK. He\'s accepted by BLACKs although some of us do snicker at him, those who do are just jealous ;-) Elvis Presley was white-skinned but sang and danced BLACK. To be BLACK is an honor and a rare priviledge. Colin Powell and Condolezzza Rice threw away their God Given BLACKness, it was their choice, and now they are what they are. Barack Obama and Sinbad are BLACK, although they are yellow-skinned. Hope this helps.
