and down to what BMI is this applicable. Surely its not the same at a BMI of 19.5 as it is a BMI of 21.5 is it?

Yeah.
It would probably be most accurate to look at this in terms of BMI (and BF% in an ideal world).

Good question. However, you might not get a good answer off Jack. In other posts on a similar subject, he didn't factor in wind resistance, which is obviously a very important variable.
In my junior year of HS, I weighed 105 pounds and ran a 9:33 3000. In my senior year, I weighed 130 and ran 9:05. There was no height difference. It's clearly not always a linear relationship. I was way underweight my junior year, and it was detrimental to my running.

The legendary coach Ron Gunn said that a min./lbs for a marathon. That translates to a little over 2 sec. per mile, which seems to be the general consensus here.
I've been anywhere from 97-110--haven't really noticed an effect in my racing.
Does the 2 sec per mile per pound also apply to 800m? If I lost 10 lbs could I drop 10 sec?
It would have in 2007, but not today. Today it's closer to 12.
