I'm having an important interview in a week and I don't have much experience with this but what is the most professional way to write an interview?
What are you writing?
sorry I mean what is the best way to write a resume for this interview
Write an interview?
If you're writing a resume, it depends on your past experience and the job you're applying for.
I've reviewed hundreds of resumes trying to hire lowly interns at my work. I look for sh!t that MEANS something. Rambling paragraphs suck, as do bulleted lists of sh!t I don't care about.
Learn about the job and find attributes in yourself that would be applicable and then put them forth in a clear, concise format.
You want to portray yourself as someone that not only knows their sh!t, and has experience with it, but also someone that is constantly looking for ways to improve things and expand their responsibility...not to the point of being a freak intern that wants to be the CEO, but someone that displays leadership and takes initiative.
I think the most important component is knowing the job position and finding how you can match your skills to that. Because in the interview, they are going to ask you for stuff concerning the position and if you haven't come up for an answer for what they're looking for, it doesn't matter what's on your resume.
Do you have a job description? Do you know anyone in the company? Anyone in a similar company? A related field? Mine them for information. Go to their company website and see what you can find out. Then try to figure out how you fulfill the skills they are looking for. If you can't figure it out, you're probably not a good match for the job in the first place, and won't be happy there in the long run.
Also, get a friend to just talk to about yourself for 30 minutes or so before the interview. Have them ask you questions about the job or what you've done in the past? Most likely, in the real interview, you'll get someone that doesn't know how to interview anyway, and they'll ask the same dumb questions your friend will ask. Knowing how to respond to this situation and guide the interview back to your positive traits is important. Be ready to assert yourself in the interview. Know the job. Know yourself. And be ready to talk about how you're a badass for the job.
