If this thread already exists, flame away, and I'll gladly let this die. If not, I figure it could be a good one to help struggling-to-get-back-into-it runners stay accountable and post their progress.I've been out of the running game for over two years now, almost three, besides several week jaunts that end in injury or a lack of will power.I'm 22... in graduate school finishing up my master's. Living in England in a town with a lot of great trails. It's time to get in shape after too much laziness, too much beer (way too much beer), too much English "cuisine" (aka shit), my body is crying out for the healthy days of old.
I gotta get in shape. Too much sitting has ruined my body. Too much abuse has gone on for too long… From now on will be total organization. Every muscle must be tight.
When I was at my best racing was several years ago. I weighed about 140 pounds and ran as much as I could. Now I'm 160 pounds and full of excuses.
So the goals:
- 145 pounds by race day
- Finish first marathon at Baltimore in October
- Sub 3:10 to not beat myself up too badly, sub 3:00 to be happy, 2:49 to be really happy
- Run every day, eat better, drink less, avoid occasional cigarettes with friends, and generally cut back (but not remove) my vices
- Do not run through injuries
Progress so far... well I've run 4 to 6 miles several times. My watch is in the mail, so I have no idea the pace, to be honest... but it could have been worse. I still have some of the old post-70+ mile a week fitness dormant in me. Been doing daily push ups and sit ups and eating better. And it's been enjoyable, not a chore... Here's to doing, and not hoping.
Good luck everyone.
