Like a post above said, running is becoming more and more a playground for the rich. Anyone who represents the antithesis of the crowd with nice, new, matching running outfits, $100+++ motion control stability shoes, all those specialized sports bars, gels, and drinks for training runs, and all kinds of electronic toys strapped to their arms and legs to help them tolerate the act of running qualifies as blue collar in the sport of running.
A blue collar runner is someone who's putting in 40+ hours a week working shifts at a factory or on a construction site somewhere and schedules training around work. If you're working 20 hours a week at somebody's shoe store with full benefits and get to schedule work around training, you're lucky as hell and definitely not blue collar.
Give us some examples, since you seem so sure that they exist.
