My office is offering free FLU shots today (inactivated influenza vaccine). I have a marathon in 10 days.
Is it safe to still get the shot?
Is it safe? (hmm... seem to remember something about that line)

just did a 10k tempo run this morning, so my immune system is probably slightly depressed plus coming of high mileage weeks. But the next 10 days is easy tapering....
I've gotten either the flu shot or flu mist for the past two years and besides feeling a little stuffy a day or two afterwards had no real side effects.
Do you think it's a smart bet to do the training you have done only to risk it all for a free flu shot?
Thats what I'm trying to determine is there a real risk or am I just paranoid. The nurse says I'll be fine, that I can't get sick from the shot.
I would wait and get another shot later on.
Hold off on the shot...the shot will kick your immune system into overdrive as it encounters the vaccine....your immune system will be comprimised for a few days after the shot and you could risk coming down with a cold, etc...especially if you are close to peaking.
Repeat: Wait til after the race for the shot.
Wait Wait Wait.
I didn't get it. I'll wait till 2 weeks after the race.
