Which is better: 20 minutes of skipping, with a skipping rope, or 20 mins easy run?
The aim isn't recovery, it's building up fitness.
I run the 400m if that makes any difference, and the session is to slot between other sessions.

Run, unless you plan on skipping your 400.
lol. I don't plan on lifting weights around my 400, but I do those.
Anyway, I did both as I had some spare time, so no worries.
Jumping rope is a great way to combine aerobics and plyometrics. For a 400 runner, 20 minutes skipping is probably more beneficial than a 20' jog.
I disagree, though both are certainly beneficial. Given a choice, do the running.
I know distance runners who have incorporated skipping rope into their secondary training routines. They have found it to help.
