This letter shows the type of harassment and hostile work environment we have. The chief of police is constantly 'bad talking' us in every way possible and we have had enough of his arrogance," the letter read.
Wow cry more. You've got a job to do and as an Chief they can say what they want. No singling out or anything in the letter or anything. Either we didn't get the full story or these are the most sorry-ass pussy cops i've ever encountered. If i saw these cops I'd tell them to grow some freaking hair on the kiwi and instead of crying and shoving more donuts down their throats do something about their fitness. This article made me sick
they are doing an aol poll, and with almost 83 thousand votes cast 97% of the voters say no the police chief should not have been fired and only 3% say he should be fired. i voted with the 97%.
Very sad.
The AP writeer has a great sense of humor though.
"In the end, the department lost 190 pounds -- all of them belonging to Goward."
From the article:
"called the "Jelly Belly" memo "the icing on the cake.""
They had to use a junk food analogy? Wonder where that anonymous letter writer's mind is.
I looked at this article, and from the title and how it was slanted, it looked like he was fired for advocating fitness, but if you read between the lines, it was clear that the chief had an abrasive management style. I suspect that if he'd instituted annual or biennial fitness testing (which might have been fought by the PBA), he have had public support, but making fun of his officers by calling them Jelly Bellies does belittle them and brings his judgement into question. Much of life involves politics, clearly this is an example of that.
Article was definitely slanted. Another example of liberal bias in the press!!!!
Sounds like what he wrote is fine to me. He didn't call any names out. Probably someone somewhere just didn't like him due to his "abrasive management style" and this was a reason to can him. Other than being fired, I think whoever his boss is should have sat him down and told him that they felt this wasn't the right way to go about it (I think it was fine). Perhaps that has been done already though and this time he just blew it.
My drill sergeant has an "abrasive management style" and has called my a lot worse than jelly belly - can I get him fired?
His memo was titled "are you a jelly belly?" so he wasn't callign anyone a jelly belly. And in the memo all he did was list 10 reasons why police officers should be in shape. Tell me how this is a negative memo...
