I think the White Stipes are the best band to come around in the last 10 years. Who else is there?

NO!
No, they are not even close to being the best band featuring Jack White.
There is only one white Stipe and he is in R.E.M.
hey
White Stripes rule! Each CD gets better and better.
Had a friend who stopped liking them b/c the got too popular for him. He said they copied Led Zepplen. I said you are not my friend no mo.
The White STripes are effing great! They DO keep getting even better.
they are good but they are alos on hiatus. they kind broke up...
you should lsiten to jacks new band called THE RACONTEURS...very muhc white stripes...
Korn, Disturbed, Foo Fighters, AFI, Muse, etc., etc., etc. WS are good, but no way close to the best in 10 years.
It would be much easier to take your opinion into consideration if you could spell the name of the f***ing band correctly.
i though they were on track to be one of the best but then the last album came out. horrible i think. all in all it was a disapointing year or two for bands to come out with new stuff. refrence trent rez or thursday to name two. f'ing b lack people.
I think "Get Behind Me Satan" is absolutely kick ass. I agree that the White Stripes are one of the best bands of the last 10 years. Raw, simple, kick ass music. Very eclectic.
I'm not sure if somebody before was trying to say that Korn and Disturbed are as good or better than the WS...if so...they should be bizmarked immediately.
The White Stripes are very good. Jack White is extremely talented and transcends a specific genre.
Korn? haha jesus christ...
I like a lot of Korn's stuff (the first one especially), but I think I like the WS even more than them now. Also, Korn's first disc came out in '94, so for the purposes of this discussion, they don't count. WS now probably rank as my 2nd favorite band behind TOOL. I think I agree about the best band to come out in the last year years. I'll have to check out the Raconteurs now too.
I've pretty much like every WS album. I don't worry about if they are the best band of the decade or century or whatever. They rock. At any rate, I saw them play in Milwaukee, and it was honestly kind of disappointing. Granted the acoustics at the eagles ballroom kind of suck, but they just didn't kick as much ass as I'd hoped. I really like their albums though.
The Raconteurs sound promising, but I haven't made up my mind yet.
maybe if they could at least play their instruments properly...
Seriously guys. The raw production thing is 'cool' and all, but to be honest, the WS seem to have the complete inability to play something rhythmically or melodically interesting... I mean, it's not like the drummer has to play in odd time signitures or do anything technical. Just do something with a little more creativity than that of a metronome. And Jack: Hitting the notes harder doesn't make you sound better, it just makes people go "Wow he's sure bangin' away at that thing. The guy's got talent!" I feel like throwing up evertime I hear that solo in 7 Nation Army.
I am completely baffled by the popularity of this duo, but nothing against those who like them. It just seems like these two get so much attention because of their image, and are labeled a great band despite their musical shortcomings.
Wow dude, lighten up. We're not asking musicians to split the atom here. I just like their sound. I think part of what defines a good band is one that doesn't sound like the others. They fit that bill, and I think when you hear them you'll know what band you're listening to.
It bears repeating.....they are effing great! Great songwriting. Great, powerful playing. Lennonesque.
Jack White is amazing. He is a true student of rock and roll music. If you look at some of the people he has played with you would agree. In addition, Meg? the white stripes drummer deserves no recognition. She has two grooves and its amazing Jack did as much as he did with her.
The best "band" in the last ten years is a tough choice. To me that means the most influential. I would probably vote for Nine Inch Nails, only because Trent Rezner found a way to make industrial cool. I think other consideration could be given to, Rage against the machine, Morello is an absolute genius. Tool, nothing more to say... Radiohead, Sonic Youth, STP, Beta band...
These are not even my favorite bands but i feel they have been the most influential and creative... Best band to see live in the last ten years? Phish, Black Crowes, STP...
Flame away.
