30 miles a week during racing....man he will lose all his aerobic fitness for sure.
jennings got wheels to run 23 seconds?
He probably bikes down to Mexico on the weekends though.
Well, if he can do this, why not? [quote]How much recovery time do you take during a repeat 400m workout? Do you take your pulse after your reps?
I take 60 seconds rest for quarters in 58, 2:00 rest for quarters in 56, 3:00 rest for quarters in 54, 4:00 rest for 52, and full recovery for 48-second quarters. I don't take my pulse.[/unquote]
Anybody who can run a 1:46.83 can toss off a 23 200. A 48 400 is tougher but maybe it's 48 high with a rolling start.
What's the hardest running workout you've ever done in your life? Why?
20 x 400m in under 60 seconds with 1:00 jog (in my dreams). Grit.
see gabes hardest workout is a "strength" workout. lots of hard work at slightly faster than 3k pace. does "in my dreams" mean the recoveries were a little longer?
It's hard to believe that he's only doing 30 miles a week, but I guess Bob Kennedy would only do 60 miles a week during the track season, and he was training for a distance three times longer than Jennings' focus. The low mileage probably keeps his renewed leg strength somewhat ripe.
It's a good thing for Gabe that this interview was conducted via email. If it was live, Larkin would have torn him a new one when he started into that "ultras are spiritual" stuff. Next he'll be saying that Karna-kova is his hero.

i think the "in my dreams" means he takes 1min rest, but DOESN'T ACTUALLY JOG THE WHOLE WAY
I think it means he has never actually done it. Period.
I mean, that's a killer workout.

so how could it be the hardest workout he's ever done if he's never done it.???/
the yoga/spiritual stuff cracks me up
this guy is straight up goofy
Aren't you all sick of this guy's BS by now? His schtick is so tired and "out there" I wish he'd just disappear from
competitive running.

Perhaps he was being facetious.
Whats wrong with you people? This interview confirms one thing: Gabe Jennings is the man and by far the coolest U.S distance runner. Hes also fast as hell and I can see him rising to the top of the U.S 1500 runners next year. If he stays focused it seems like he'll just keep getting better and better. Didn't he come out of nowhere to get second behind Lagat at the U.S championships? Very impressive.
Cool article. Clearly, he's still a bit of a piece of work (slept through the start of a 50 miler, ran CIM for the "glory" LOL!) Best of luck to him!
What are you smoking? Rise to the top... BL is the man and Gabe has a great deal of comp. for second. Webb, Rankin, Lukezic.
Call me when Gabe runs either the world B or A standard. Finishing second in a tactical national race does not mean he is a world beater yet. Gabe is just another talented sub 4 minute miler. On the world stage that is a dime a dozen.
