She's five feet 11 and I agree that that's really pushing it with regard to potential to be outstanding in distance running on a world class level but I don't think it will stop her from reaching a good national level such as 14:50/30:40.... She'll never sniff 14:00/29:00 which is gold standard now....Chebet and co
Surprise no one mentioned this, it would be like if a guy was 6'6" and trying to be an elite distance runner
Is it too late for her to switch to volleyball or basketball?
This is probably why she has struggled so much in the ncaa.
Basketball and volleyball are skill sports that you have to develop as a youngster to reach a high level - it's not going to happen now unless she already has previous experience at a good level in those two sports .....

No white woman has ever come close to 14:00 or 29:00, and they orobabjy won’t for at least a decade or more.

Have you watched a WNBA game before?
Absolutely, and the women's fundamentals are similar, but they're slower and much less athleticism.
Radcliffe was 5.9. Tall but not freakish tall. 5.11 for a woman is "out there" and as a distance runner offers no benefits, overall.
Hedengren: But good luck to her. Can she swim? I mean properly (trained from young age) ? If yes, she'd have more chance for world class transition to triathlon.

Battocletti? I have my doubts she'll ever get under 14 and 29 as she's close to her limit right now. 14:00/29:00 are almost ridiculous times for women. 14:00/29:00 men can run 2:08:00-2:09:00 marathons, or faster. Women ... 🤔?
Why, biomechanically, would a 5'11" woman be different than a 5'11" man? I don't get the premise of adjusting by the 6 inch average by gender.
That's an astonishing question. A woman athlete of 5'11" is not built like a male athlete of the same height. The bone and muscle structure is different - far more pronounced in a man - and so is the cardiovascular system, which is why no woman athlete of that height is comparable performance-wise to a male athlete of the same height.
Klaver is a top female 400 runner and built like an Amazon at nearly 6'0" tall. A good schoolboy athlete of 15 is faster than her while a comparable male adult runner of 6'0" would be half the straight ahead of her over the 400. That is the difference between the sexes - even if they are the same height.
More like if a 6'5" man tried to be a 100 m sprinter. It could never work!!!
I see what you did there. Nice little touch of sarcasm.
Bolt being 6’5” for a sprinter may be an outlier, but so are his times. Why should it be any different with someone like Jane? Maybe your “typical” elite distance runner is shorter, but there is a lot more than height that plays into the equation. She has clearly demonstrated that it works for her.
It’s honestly ridiculous to say that someone who just rewrote the high school record book (and is dominating NCAAs as a freshman) should be going out for a different sport just because she doesn’t fit some preconceived notion of how tall a runner should be.
