They need to go to four regionals. Most regionals are weak and the advancing teams are decided before the first meet of the season. Teams should not be able to sit half their roster and still advance. There should not be a question of: is Hedengren running? Is Kosgei running? Is _________ running?
Why are only 2 regions available to watch? All the conference meets were live streamed.
No clue how streaming/tv coverage of a particular regional meet is contracted. As things stand, the Midwest could be full of drama on the W side and worth a watch (on ESPN+). TSR floated the possibility of top10 OKSt not advancing to Nats if the Cowgirls don't finish at least 3rd.
If that is the case the team race is really going to be tight. I ran LACCTiC and took Hartman out. I am not 100% sure that I did it correctly with all the correct athletes from all of the teams. Taking Hartman out still gives NC State the win with 131, Oregon is at 148 and BYU at 161. Those 3 are comfortably ahead of the rest of the field.

You should take Hartman and Anderson out from NC St, and include inactive runners to include Hutchins of BYU (at least we think) which would put BYU at a 76% favorite to win, with NC St and OR close for 2nd (tho OR may be better than their ratings). Taking out Hutchins would put NC St a slight favorite with same OR caveat.

True. But going to fewer regionals like 4 as he said, would then have maybe 6 auto qualifying teams which would allow teams like Oklahoma State to run a JV team because they would only have to beat the 7th best.
Current process is good. It forces teams to race during the season and to put it a decent effort at regionals. It provides for regional representation at nationals while also getting all of the top teams there.
