I will never stop waving to everyone on the trail. No matter how many times I run past you and you don't wave. No matter how big, mean and grumpy you look. No matter how funny you look at me in my short shorts. I will wave.

Good! Bring some happiness to the world.
What if i b1tch slap you to the ground then do the haka dance over your unconscious body. Stil going to wave the next day?
So long as you arent culturally appropriating the Haka, and are wearing Hoka's. Waver's of America activate, form of _______________, shape of ______________.
I got ignored by a local runner who attends my club casually. He was on flyby, back when it was automatically enabled for everyone, so I gave him kudos. After that he made his profile private. He was probably annoyed because my 5k was 16 and his was 22. He is a typical asswhole who looks flash but has no substance.
Son you mean well, but there are some unwritten rules of running etiquette which have been developed to make running more enjoyable and productive. I will explain one of the rules relevant to your topic.
Whether you greet someone your cross on a trail (or on long run, not track those rules are different) depends on how many people are on the trail. If you are on a trail that doesn't have many people your approach is commendable and appropriate. However if you run near a city on a busy trail and your are passing people constantly, saying hi to everyone is awkward.
The nuance here is difficult to explain, but as the trail becomes more crowded you transition from a verbal greeting, to just a nod, to no response at all. Run with an experienced runner to learn this system.
Another rule you need to know, when you running an out and back and you cross the person a second time a nod rather a verbal greeting this appropriate.
Sometimes I will wave back, sometimes I am not (when I am in the zone).
I hope you can deal with it.
This is true. There are unstated interactions going on between people when they are close together like living in apartments. Just respecting others and minding your own business is also interaction. Also, old men don't greet young women first. Old men give each other the old man nod. Women greet each other differently than they do men.

Not everyone appreciates your mindset, be respectful & don’t force it. I always try to be considerate of others interest while negotiating narrow sections.

Grizzly here. It’s sweet when a prey waves. The prey tastes sweet, that is.
This is definitely location-dependent.
Midwestern state where I grew up & ran in college: everyone waves on the trial! It's great to see you, and great to be alive. 👋
CA: 1/10 people wave. I just f with them & give overexagerated waves now. And keep waving (sometimes going to doubles hands) for like 50m after pasing them. I imagine them looking back and being like "wtf is wrong with that guy???"
Be careful who you wave at. You could get accused of sexual harassment.

I was running in Bratislava the other week and someone did that to me as I passed them. He looked American - was it you?
