I understand that the answer is: "Go to the doctor." And I am planning on that. But at this point, I'm just trying to get some idea of what I might be dealing with here, because my frustration has boiled over.
In January, like a moron, I went out to run in cold weather, and figured I could avoid the ice. I didn't. I hit a patch under some snow, everything in my left leg twisted, and I was in terrible pain. I managed to finish the last 3 of 6 miles, but by mid-day, I could barely walk.
Anyway, nothing popped. There was no swelling or bruising, and I thought I'd got away with something. The pain is localized in my left leg, outside, about six inches below the knee, and on the side/front of the leg. It seems like possibly a muscle tear, but I can't even begin to guess what muscle it would be, and Dr. Google has not been helpful. After a couple weeks off, I slowly started to build mileage up again - I mean slowly - and was around 5-6 per day at a pretty slow pace (9 minutes) before I developed shin pain and shut it down again.
Well, the injury isn't clearing up. Right now, I just try to run a couple miles every Saturday to see if things get better, and days later, I can still feel it.
Does anyone have any clue at all what it could be? Even the body part? I can't find anything, anywhere, and I am beyond frustrated here, three months later dealing with something I thought would clear up with some rest in a week.
