Altuve and the Astros are so obnoxious that it pains me to say it, but yes, he is an amazing player, and among the best 2nd basemen of all time, even factoring in the proven cheating.
His achievements do not count because of his association with the cheating era of the Astros. Don’t know if he’s been linked to PEDs or not, but he’s 5 foot tall…..Not many people hit homers and are card carrying members of the Lolipop Guild.
The guy is batting .382 with an OPS up around 1.2. Mr. Consistent. He has like the most lead-off home runs in history. The guy is amazing.
Why would you post this nonsense?
Rickey Henderson has the most leadoff homeruns (81), and no one else is even close. Altuve has 34. What a weird claim for you to make.
Is Altuve good? Yes. Does he have the spectre of CHEATER attached to him? Yes. He had 4 really good seasons, and he has been just good not great since age 28...his hot start to this season doesn't count...way too soon to say it's a good season.
He needs 924 more hits to make it to the Hall of Fame. At age 34, he's not going to get better without more cheating (PEDs, more trash can lid banging), so it's doubtful he will get to 3000 hits, and I dont' think he makes the Hall of Fame unless he does.
He's kind of just barely better than Michael Young at this point, and if he hangs on long enough to see his average drop below .300, he'll be worse.
McRunnin, I wasn't able to post to you because of a fault in the software. Looking through your link I noticed an unbelievable stat -- Jackie Robinson stole home 19 times!
