Have you ever trained in humidity so thick you have to cut thru it?
The women got 3rd at XC regionals and have had a girl run 1:58 this season. Another local Louisiana girl ran 32:46 at Raleigh relays. Those are fantastic performances. On the other hand, the men aren’t very good, normally finishing last or second to last at conference. They routinely lose in Xc to other in state schools and didn’t field a team at regionals this season to try to save face.
LSU doesn’t put money into Men’s distance. They won’t be good and there is no coach in the country that would make them good. As the previous person said, they have some impressive women’s result. Good strong coaching.
Riding off 1 to 2 decent female runners from a whole squad.
It can be done...they get distance runners in Gainesville and Tuscaloosa...but ultimately LSU likely does not scholarship anything longer than 1500m.
It takes talent in the SEC, talent that is hard to come by if all you have is walk ons. The goal is to score in the events you put your scholarships (which is not the distances at LSU).
Terry Thornton and Mark Elliott would like to have a word...
