I know it’s only April, but I can’t stop thinking about summer training. I have 4 sophmores right now running 4:40s at the end of indoor. They likely won’t be making state this year in track but who knows. They are running 40-50 mpw comfortably with 1 race + 1 tempo + 1 speed day a week. Here’s my thoughts for summer to get the team to state in the fall.
(This is all after a break from track and 2 weeks getting the legs back going)
M: am: 30 minute run. pm: pure speed development
T: am: 30 minute run. pm: LT1 intervals
W: am: 30 minute run. pm: 40 minute run
Th: 70 minute Medium Long Run
F: am: 30 minute run. pm: 40 minute run
S: am: 30 minute run. pm: hills or another tempo workout
S: off
