At what distance do you think Kipchoge starts to beat Jakob? My guess is that it would be somewhere around 15k or 9 miles. Assume that this is done on a track and no tactics are involved. Both athletes run as fast as their bodies will allow with an optimal pacing strategy. How would this change if tactics were allowed or the race took place on a flat road, preventing the use of spikes.
If Eliud wants to break his WR, he has to average close to 2:51 per km tomorrow. If Jakob Ingebrigtsen tried to keep up with him tomorrow, how long until he has to drop out?
Is there any distance other than a full marathon Kiptum could defeat Ingebrizztsen at? I think even in a half, Jakob would absolutely annihilate Kelvin by progressively winding up the speed into an impossibly hard kick to mat...
Better Question do you think Eliud Kipchoge would take Jakob in a 5,010m distance. I am betting Jakob would crush Kipchoge by at least 30 seconds in a 5,000m at this point but the extra 10m might just be too long for Jakob and I am betting he would hit the wall and take at least 31 seconds too complete the last 10m.
People tend to forget that when Kipchoge emerged in 2003 he outkicked BOTH Hicham El Gerrouj and Kenenisa Bekele at Worlds, and as late as in 2012 he outkicked BOTH Mo Farah and Kenenisa Bekele in the Double Mile.
Had Kipchoge focused on the 1500 during those years he almost certainly would have lowered Hicham's World Record, but he wanted to take the 5000/10000 throne from the Ethiopians. Shortly after that victory linked above he was injured, and had to switch to the Marathon, and the rest is history.
Right now Jakob is probably capable of 58:00 on the half (or less) and Kipchoge for sure some slower. Kipchoge only takes advantage after around 1h30 where glycogen depletion has an impact.

Before predicting that he could run such a fast HM, he needs to run a fast 10000m. Until then, I believe he probably can’t.

This video makes me wonder how many gold medals could have been snatched from Farah if people had pushed the pace on him like this. Tough to do when there isn’t a rabbit though

Around 31km is my estimate. Jakob would definitely beat Kipchoge over the half marathon and could probably hold him off for another 10km or so but after that I think Kipchoge’s marathon endurance training would be too much for Jakob to match. If Jakob were to train for a couple of years specifically for the marathon however it would be Jakob for the win.

Okay, first off - who the hell calls the 2 mile the "Double Mile?"
Kipchoge's speed was underrated but he still would've struggled to break 3:30 while focusing on the 1500 let alone 3:26, and yet for some reason I don't think you're trolling...

No way Kipchoge touches El G's 3:26 even if he focused on the event, El G is the 1500/mile GOAT for a reason. Also, that was clearly Tariku Bekele and not Kenenisa in that 2012 2 mile. Kipchoge had a lot of speed with a 3:50 mile, but there's a reason the marathon is his ultimate distance and not the 1500 or 5k

I think Jakob wins a half marathon and if he trains for it the marathon.
Kipchoges career is about over, he’s having more mediocre performances than good ones and a lot of smart people are speculating Jakob has the potential to be a worldbeater at those distances.
I also think a lot of people think Jakob isn’t trained to run fast over those distances currently, but his non-peak season training is basically top tier half marathon training with 200m repeats one day of the week for turnover. The only reason he’s racing 1500m-5000m right now is because he wants the records.

like 30K...Only because Jakob hasn't trained his body to run a Sub Two pace for anything longer than an Hour. I'm pretty sure with 5-6 months of training, Jakob could throw down a Sub 58 Half Marathon, given he has bested Jacob Kiplimo and Yomif Kejelcha (Two guys who are Sub 58 HM). Kipchoge COULD NOT at any point in his Marathon career go under 58 in Half. Plus, with Kipchoge being 40 this year it's unlikely he ever would.

I we are talking a time trial race with rabbits and wave lights, Kiplimo can possibly beat Jakob at 5k.
If we are just talking one on one, I’d say Kiplimo thrashes Jakob at 10k.
