Okay, prove it then with statistics rather than relying on a single data point you claim is tainted because the distance athlete was British (even though this is negated by Bolt being the literal face of track and field during that period)
The OP is an idiot. Even the most casual non athletics fan knows what "fastest" means. The 100m is the marquee event at the OG for a reason. The 10000m is a measure of endurance, nothing to do with "fastest" anything. Sounds to me like the OP is trying to define fastest for others, when it has already been established. The most popular events are the 100m (measure of speed - fastest), 1500m, because of its proximity to the Mile, and Marathon (measure of endurance). The others are all window dressing.
There is a reason that the 10000m is no longer a part of the DL series - it is boring to the casual fan, heck even to a more serious one. Few want to sit and watch a 26 - 30 minute race during a 2hr spectator meet.
What is the world's fastest car or plane? It's not one that can average a higher speed over 1 hour or some other length of time. It's the one with the fastest top speed.
A while ago, I was watching a track meet on TV. As the 10K race was going on, there was a guy doing his run up for the long jump on the infield. He went by the 10K runners like they were standing still.

Bolt isn't British though, Farah is. If Farah weren't British that race would have had half the audience. it wasn't the best example to use but 100m is definitely more watched than 10k.

Do you think endurance and speed are mutually exclusive? The 10000m is a test of speed and endurance, just like, believe it or not, the 100 meters is. It's just the endurance needed in the 100 meters is the ability to maintain top speed in the face of lactic acid buildup, whereas the endurance needed in the 10000m is the ability to maintain 10k race pace in the face of, you guessed it, lactic acid buildup.
Anyways, the 10k world champion is the FASTEST MAN over 10k -- why you think that's less significant of a distance than 100m, I will continue to be bemused by.

That's cool, but he would get lapped. Many, many times. If he were to compete in the 10k. Or do you not realize you can't all out sprint a 10k in the way you can nearly all out sprint the run up for the long jump?

In OP’s world Toyota Corollas are faster than Formula One race cars.

I don't know too much about cars. Can a Corolla get from Los Angeles to New York faster than a Formula One car? That's probably roughly equivalent.

why should I? I already know the 100m is a more popular event than the 10,000m. pay me to do it and I might. It might not be on this forum because of the demographic. But amongst the entire population the 100m is the most popular track and field event. The 10k is far down the list probably somewhere amongst the hammerthrow and steeple.
Or basically any champion from the 1500m to marathon. I mean sure you can argue the 100m guys hit the fastest speed, but that doesn't necessarily make you the fastest man if you can't hold it for a meaningful distance. If I committed a crime and I was trying to escape and i only had my two legs to get away, I'd probably want to be a 1500m-5k guy since I'd still have 50 low speed at worst in the 400m and could run twenty more miles if need be.
SMH....a distance runner will never be considered the fastest runner. Why? Because they aren't. The don't come close to the fastest top speed.
Same as a cheetah being the fastest land animal and not mule or turtle.
