super impressive result considering the guy seemed more like a 800/1500 runner coming into college. He has improved very well since freshman year and I think can run a very fast 1500m soon.

But he lost... To some rando from Butler. That's not a good sign for him.
He ran 3:57/8:41 in HS and 3:54/7:47 indoors. He was the first HSer to break 4 in HS only competition since Ryun, and he's the fastest. He's progressing great, and while this isn't a mindblowing result, he closed in a 57 and is proving to have solid range.
Anytime some guy runs a sub 4, we tend to typecast them as a miler. Martin was 4th in his HS class at xc nats, multi time state xc and 3200m champ and ran as #1 for UVA xc all fall, until an off day at nationals.
The mile may indeed be his sweet spot, but he is a complete distance runner.
Love Gary. Another solid performance.
1:47 and 13:31 is fantastic range. Impressive outdoor opener.
not sure that's right
55 runners sub 14:00! Were those different sections/races? Impressive depth in the USA in college. The reality though is that all these 13:30-13:50 runners will not make a living from the sport.
Nice season opener for Jacob Klemz at Raleigh Relays!
He lost to a 1:48/3:38/7:44 All American.
The shoes are changing the game, times are meaningless these days.
He is the Kurt Rambis of running.
Very impressive
Geez there were like 100 sub-14:00 at Raleigh. I remember when you could win with a 13:57
Times have always been meaningless compared to place. I think now more and more shoe companies just won't take someone who isn't placing top 4 in an event. Where as before you could have a fast time and they'd consider. But in the grand scheme of things it is the same evaluation process. Success at NCAA championships (place) first, times second.
I saw that too. We need a conversion chart (like the altitude conversion)
Yeah, Verzbicas did too, iirc
Fantastic result. He's got the B standard for OTQ
13:25/3:37 are the A standards. June 9 the deadline.
Slagowski?????
Knock off the negative posts. Great run dude. Keep it up.
The why does the USA still svck major baIIs at the marathong genious?
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
