Rush what? What are you talking about? If she qualified she qualified. If she didn't she didn't.
Will 30 women run faster than 15:25? It seems unlikely.
She is talented and with a slow and steady progression maybe she can eventually be more than a mediocre pro. I wouldn't want to see her in the Olympic trial 5000 even if she were capable of winning it. No need to throw a kid to the wolves.

You're very confused. Competing in the Olympic Trials is not throwing a kid to the wolves.
If she wants to run at the Olympic Trials then she should. If she doesn't want to run, then she shouldn't. It's that simple.

"Slow and steady progression"? You must not have been following her career. There hasn't been anything about her career that has been "slow and steady."
If you were worried about that you should have worried about it a year ago. She is already way past that point.
Saw Leachman race at NIN and she was simply out there running with a big smile on her face, yes running hard but having fun every lap. When Tuohy was in HS racing she looked like she was working with a very focused look on her face. Leachman is simply having fun running with the look if not a care in the world on her face.

Sounds to me as if you are the one in a hurry here. How much faster has Natalie Cook run since that record race? For every Addy Wiley who runs faster in College since her still very good HS times, there are numerous (Cain, Ephraimson come to mind) who don't. The girl is in grade 10 - lots of time for development. Shouldn't be in any hurry to race in the trials, especially in a 5000m at that age. Sounds to me as if YOU would be disappointed if she doesn't race.
Perhaps she could be focusing on something like World U20 at the end of the summer - there are likely to be a few Africans in attendance who might give her a good race at that time. It will be at altitude, so unlikely to be super fast, but will be better for her competitively - one step at a time.

Whoa. People on here are clueless. 1. U20 World Champs are in Lima. That’s in Peru. In South America. On the coast. AT SEA LEVEL. 2. She should race whatever her heart desires.
East is your point? Tuohy improved a bit in college before failing. Leachman is a generational rational talent. She will finish top 8 at the trials and go pro. Expect 14:45 by the time she is 18.

looks pretty mature, trains a lot of hours per week. Chasing records etc...

For sure. She’s very young and has a lot of potential. In her interview yesterday, she said she’s focusing on the UIL season before going to Nike Outdoor Nationals and Brooks PR. When asked about the Olympic Trials, she said she will wait and see and that the opportunity would be great if possible.

Not much diff between u20 and Olympic trials, still has to go to Eugene for Usatf meet.
It's actually quite common for high schoolers to compete at trials. Good experience for them and always a great story for media/ sponsors.
Just to name a few, Hasay, Roesler, Cain, Efraimson, Willis, Whitaker, Brahe-Peterson, Gorriaran, Watson, Mu, McGlaughlin (and Rudy Chapa😁)have all competed at either oly or world trials. It's an honor, it's fun and 1 summer race is not the reason for success or failure of their careers.
Leachman is going after the outdoor HS national 5k record tomorrow at the Texas Relays. Current record is held by Natalie Cook in 15:25.93, but Leachman ran 15:28.9 at Nike Indoor Nationals. Should be super cool to see what she can do in a collegiate field outdoors.
