I am consistently amazed by the level of T&F-irrelevant/badly informed hatred that appears on this website. I understand such people have the right, and feel the need, to espouse such views, but aren't there sufficient relevant sites on which to do so rather than bringing it here? And why don't the moderators simply remove the irrelevant posts.
But for what it's worth: What the student was wearing apparently was a veil, not a burqa (the former is like what a Catholic nun used to wear; the latter covers pretty much the entire body and is relatively rare in many, if not most most Islamic countries.
As for "most Asian countries were never colonized", the poster should try studying a little history. I thought of posting a list of Asian countries that were colonized and realized it would take too long, so here's a list of Asian countries (out of 40 or so total) that were NOT colonized (and some of these also somewhat open to debate): Japan, China, Thailand, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Mongolia, Nepal, Iran. Ever hear of the British, French, Russian, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, and Japanese colonial empires? (plus even a little bit of U.S. colonial empire, counting Philippines and several Pacific island nations).
