Trying to be fast past the age of 25 is dumb.
Run 25-40 miles a week for fun. And spend the rest of the time you would have spent running 100 miles a week helping your community and others in need.

I train a lot but dont race for similar reasons to the subject line. I enjoy training at a good volume because I see virtue being attained through hard work and feel good about myself.
You can give back to your community by being an intense runner. Help local running events, youth organizations, organize or promote races
you just wanna bait people tho
So professional runners are dumb?
Frank Shorter did pretty well past the age of 25, as did a number of other Olympians. I'm sure they still had time to do volunteer work. That's OK, Greg, you go out and help your community.
You're wrong!
How do I help my community? I can’t stop doing drugs for them
For Hobby jogger's entering 800 meter masters races, completely agree.
But every US Olympic marathon runner is and has been 25+. And the second fastest marathon ever was run by a 30+ y.o. Mo Farah didn't even start winning races until he was 25
But nice troll post. ...3/10
They need drugs. Maybe you can help by being a crack dealer that delivers.
Maybe it's all dumb.
Go on...
I agree. People who run 10 hours/week instead of goofing around on social media or watching TV are total losers.
I agree.
However I don’t expect those without a fully developed pre frontal cortex to recognize that.
Jack Foster did very well and hadn't even begun running when he was 25.
To each their own, but I am a former D1 runner who ran all of my PRs at age 28, 6 years after graduation. I'm sure glad I continued training at a high level!
Not everyone starts running in high school. Lots pick it up in their early 20's and have similar trajectories to those who start running in high school and then are giving it up post college.
Do what you want, this is our first and last time at being this age. Don't let anyones opinion stop you from doing what you enjoy.
Many people will be at their fittest in late 20s
According to the OP logic, Jakob will retire next ear to do "community work" or whatever that means.
Good to know.
You can equally say any runner who isn't going to get to the Olympics may as well not bother being fast. Equally stupid, that is.
Bold of you to assume I’m cracking 25mpw.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
