How many reps, 135 lbs. squats? [I am tired of people bragging about squatting 500 plus pounds doing 1/2 squats.]
Note: Since T&F is bro science, I am sure there have not been proper studies, half squats v. full squats. It is my opinion, half squats lead to muscle imbalance, quads too strong for biceps femoris.
That was a great video, thanks for posting.
I love how you post the same nonsense on every thread and then call T&F bro science. If you were knowledgeable about weightlifting for sports performance, you'd know that full squats, half squats, and quarter squats can all have their place in a proper, periodized strength training program.
Did you watch the video of Christian Coleman half squatting ~500lbs and say, "If he would just do full squats he would be faster?"
Bol is getting a lot of these training examinations lately, largely because she posts so many related videos to Instagram. Notice that at the end of the video the two hosts say they want to do a swimming version, and ask if anyone knows of swimmers who post a lot of strength and conditioning content to Instagram.
I was surprised they used only a few clips and ran them on repeat. She has posted so many of the years. I thought they were going to examine how her form changed over the years. But since the hefty majority of her weight training posts are the short lived Instagram stories, they might not have had access to them.
One of Bol's causes is feminine products and getting women to be more open about the issues they face, including during sports training. In the video from the OP I recognized a clip as sourcing from one of Bol's sponsors, in a video regarding menstrual issues:
Research has proven half squats translate better to sprints. Go find the papers yourself.
Quads are already naturally much stronger than hamstrings, with a few very rare genetic exceptions. So you do the half squats and train the hamstrings using other exercises (which you need to do anyway.)
I don’t think it says in this video, but per her posts, Bol’s best power clean is at least 100kg. At 65kg bodyweight and with her levers that is some impressive power. Not that this is the best measure of a long sprinter of course but I’d love to know what kind of weights Sydney puts up
Sika Strength is legit, one of the most informed / knowledgable fitness channels especially for strength/power development, weightlifting etc.
Honestly pretty stunned at Femke's almost 100kg clean with her body. She's rail thin with not a ton of visible muscle development. Just shows what freaks these Olympians are.
