I am a 13 yrs. old 7th grader running a 2:33 800m. Is that good or bad for my age. What can I do to better improve my time.

Its not bad or good
Just keep training
Ok thanks.
Is there anything specifically I should do?
2:33 is pretty good. At your age, you don’t need to complicate it too much. Just keep up what you’re doing, make sure to not neglect basic speed, and join your high school track team if you haven’t.
Troll alert. There aren't any 13 year-olds on this site.
Boy or girl?
To be fair it is pretty bad, but you get good at what you do.
Run more and get good.
What type of training are you currently doing?
I am currently just doing basic things like running speed intervals and doing a mile or two for 2-3 days out of the week for endurance.
When I was your age, I split a 1:44 on the way to school! I was a corn fed boy!
6 replies for someone to ask boy or girl.

Not a clue if we don't know boy or girl?
Boy? Its fine, not super competitive, but you can improve a lot. Your mileage is super low.
Girl? You're getting top 3 at many routine MS meets and hopefully keep getting better.
Run 15-25 MPW. Couple of quality days of intervals, speed work (assume you have coach) each week and you are getting better. Thats as general as can be without knowing your actual week.
boy
I was about the same time at your age. I ran a 2:31 with basically no training because all we did was goof off at practice.
8th grade I ran 2;23 with no training and just goofed off
Started taking practice more seriously once I was in high school, although there was very little endurance work back then.
9th grade 2:09
10th grade 2:04
11th grade 1:59
I broke my ankle playing basketball so missed my senior year of track . Would have hoped I could have gotten down to 1:55 or so. Never ran an 800 for time since then
I was a little above average 800 guy. Got 4th in my league meet and 5th at districts. Never qualified for state.
Ok
Average 800m times for a 7th grader with little training. Like many middle school coaches, they probably are not developing their distance kiddos properly. I recommend you run a little bit more mileage, do some speed endurance stuff. You could see much progress between now and next season just keep working. During the summer, make sure you are 100% consistent and take base training SERIOUS it will transform an athlete. Remember though it is middle school, just have fun with it and see what you like.
Alright. Sounds like you know. I have started doing 30 miles a week.
Colin Sahlman runs 1:45 and Nico Young runs 1:47 in the 800m tonight at the Desert Heat Classic
