this is basically what happened last year at THE TEN, men's race. Klecker expended the energy, Woody Kincaid took advantage of that. Ideally, they would switch off laps, like some of the American women did in the chase pack (Elly Hennes, Karissa Swightzer)
some people are just front-runners though, I guess. Valby is an example. Tinoda Misatsa, I think. I can't relate, because I'm more of a kicker, but I guess the longer these runners at the front, the more confidence they get.
