Wait, so is the 'argument' here that because Centro is slower and less competitive (at age 34) than he was in his prime, he should hang 'em up?
Okay, I'll bite.
And how about the multitude of guys who are slower than Centro but vying for Olympic and World Championship teams? Almost all of them are younger than Centro. Heck, some of them are considerably younger than Centro and appear to be regressing.
Let's take it a step further... I hereby demand ALL professional runners who have struggled with injury, regardless of their age, to retire posthaste. They have slowed, they are not as good as they once were, and must retire immediately. Oh, and if they've slowed due to injury and age, they must retire super posthaste.
This is a great point. What US runners other than Yared, Cole, and Hobbs have a better shot at the 1500m team this year than Centro does?
-Craig Engels has been losing to college kids all year and is getting kinda old himself. He’s not running terrible but he’s probably passed his peak too
-Cooper Teare has been getting dropped handily in all his 1500/miles and didn’t even make the US final last year
-Sam Prakel and Henry Wynne but have never really been in the 3:32 type fitness to make the team, more like consistent 3:34-3:35 guys
-Joe Waskom made the team last year but has run pretty poorly all year, so who knows where he’s at. Nathan Green hasn’t looked quite as good as he did last year either
-Luke Houser won again at indoor NCAA’s, but he’s never been quite as dominant outdoors
If you want it to be that way it's totally fine with me, but I'm not letting Salazar off the hook for his immoral ways and behavior doping being just one of them!!!
Remember, objective evidence is not always an automatic shoo-in to the truth!!!! Reason and persuasion has many departments, and never look down on EMOTIONAL REASONING okay??? It's never inferior to objective reasoning/facts!!!!! It's at least on par!!!

Centro, I supposed, left Salazar in 2019 after safesport gave the latter a permanent ban. Centro was still doing very well from 2016-2019 mind you!!!! Almost immediately in 2020/2021 onwards, despite advent of supershoes, Centro degenerated into no man's land. He was only 29/30 in age back then btw!!! Not 34!!! If you would like to say he was old but 29/30 is not old for a middle distance runner.

Look at the stats on his last 10 seasons(I’m too lazy to find it). it was post on a previous thread a year or so ago. this has to be one of his best openers of his career, I believe he typically opens in 3:40-ish.
5 years ago this would have been a great opener. And I do believe despite his age, this start could potentially set him up to be as fit or fitter than he’s ever been heading into a trials. The main point is the field is tougher than ever. That’s the bottom line. Rio trials, does he make the team with this current crop of talent in the lineup, maybe but it would have been hard to win I think he’s 2nd to nuguse and hocker/kessler Right there( I’m talking if they were at their current ability in 2016)
1) Centro left NOP in the fall of 2018; news came out in early November.
2) 2020 was a down year with some injury issues. This happens.
3) 2021: 3:35/1:46 in May, 2nd at USA's in 3:35, 3:49y, 3:33 in the Olympic Semis are a bad result? Certainly not a stellar year, but he delivered at the Trials against all the threads saying he was DONE. 2022: injured. 2023: comes back from surgery, makes USA finals and runs 3:36. What?
4) 29/30 is old according to the litany of posters who proclaimed he was done/needed to retire from 2019-now - well before he hit 34. Lagat and Willis also have something to say about 34.
Mo Farah came to join Salazar late at 28/29 years old, around the exact age in which Centro started his decline when Mo started his shocking incline!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is 'magic' in Salazar's hands that which is called DOPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Centro at 29/30 left Salazar's 'MAGIC' right at or around the age when Mo Farah under the same 'MAGIC' was going to conquer the world for the next 5-6 years, and hence did not experience the prowess Mo was able to experience with Salazar from late twenties to mid-30s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So therefore for the purposes of this debate and for proving the null hypothesis wrong, Mo's shocking incline into his mid-thirties is the more susceptible reference point, not Centro's decline!!!!!!!!
Therefore, and you aren't also as good as me at testing for the susceptibility in space and time of world and human events and occurrences, Centro's results in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 including injury/surgery and all could have been effortlessly navigated or bypassed had he been on Salazar's 'magic' doping for Mo Farah had not one single injury nor surgery within the same age bracket under Salazar's same!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are good at giving me facts, I applaud you for that, but anybody can do that, even a child!!!! But you need a well-calibrated or astute/profound morality/spirituality first and foremost to be able to weigh the susceptibility of both objective and subjective data across space and time to pick out the most susceptible hence causative and central one in the debate/argument, AND THAT'S WHY I PRESENT MYSELF ON LRC AS THE MAN TO DO IT FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CENTRO'S WOES ARE CHILD'S PLAY AND NOT REAL under the frame of reference of Salazar's 'magic' doping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yet, it was good for Centro to experience trauma and downtime after another because he can then understand that in the real world the athlete's body is extremely vulnerable to its environment and does not perform with such fictional or artificial durability like Mo Farah did from the ages of 28-34 under Salazar's 'magic'!!!!
Centro's woes are his penance and punishment that he must suffer for having the actual realities of high-performance distance training and racing stolen away from him through 'magic' doping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bump.
Khamis - I just [attempted] to read your word vomit, but didn't really track what you were getting at. Centro just ran a nice time, for May, and took 2nd against a decent American field. We, here, all of us, NEED YOUR TAKE !!!!?!
