I am a 16 year old sophomore heading into track season, and I'm in need of a training plan that would lead me to the results I want to see. I am willing to be exhausted at the end of each day and will endure anything imaginable to get where I want to be. Last year I came into track season having been running for 20-25 minutes a day for about a month. This was because I had to miss Cross country season because I got severly sick and had to spend 2 months doing nothing but sitting and occasionally going for a 10-15 minute walk. This year and the past year I played basketball, and basketball got over about a week ago. Track season has started but my school is very small and today's practice only consisted of about 10 minutes of running. Last season my PR's were 5:30 1600, 2:33 800, and I only ran it twice but 12:22 3200. This year in Cross country I had a PR of 18:20something and I placed 32nd in a meet for higher level athletes in my state. I want to decrease my times this year but I don't know how to structure a training plan. My goals for this season are 5:00 1600m, 2:20 800m, and 11:33 3200. Last week I had a week of around 20 miles and I did a speed workout of 10 min warmup/cool down and 8x400m at roughly a 1:20 pace. I was shooting for 1:15 but went something like 1:15, 1:17, 1:19, 1:20, ect, ect. Anyway I would really appreciate some help on structuring a training plan for myself. My parents are hesitant to let me run a lot because they are worried I will overtrain myself and are still worried because of how sick I got 2 years ago.
