There should be a long distance GOAT and a middle distance GOAT. The long distance GOAT formula must include cross country and Roads. This disqualifies Ingebrigtsen.
At best he can compete for Middle distance GOAT where he will need to contend with El Guerrouj and Rudisha . He doesn't come close to either one. He is also behind Aouita, Kipketer, Coe and Lagat
You haven't argued at all, you never have seriously discussed something.
You don't agree that Ingebrigtsen is the best so far at age 22 from 1500m to 5k - without giving a single name. Herb Elliott isn't a serious candidate.
You say to be GOAT distance runner it's a must to be totally dominant in one event (only remaining candidate: El Guerrouj). Arguments which challenge this claim strongly never get a comment form you.
Same story as in dozens of threads before.
Armstrong makes a big deal out of Elliott being undefeated in the mile, 1500m and 800m as a senior runner for 3 years (from age 20-22?).
But he ignores that Jakob is undefeated in the mile, the 2000m, the 3000m, the 2 miles and the 5000m so far from the age 20-22.
Armstrong tries to come around by postulating the 1500mis Jakob´s main event.
You would think it then was even more impressive to be undefeated in your secondary events.
Elliott has lost many races from age 20 to 22.
At least 6 times in the 800m/880y, also over 1000m and 2 Miles.

THe 1500 is the championship version of the 1500 / mile / 2000 (see the Diamond League giving 1500m points to the 2000m)

Elliott never lost as a senior in his career over his specialty distance of the mile/1500. That obviously included Olympic and championship finals. Jakob can never achieve that.
Elliott also held the world records over those distances. Jakob hasn't. He probably never will.

Elliott's senior career was from 1957-61. He never lost over the mile (which he ran the most) or the 1500 (which was less typical in that era). He also held the world records over those distances, completely destroying the previous marks. He was also running as an amateur, without any of the benefits that today's professionals have. Elliott dominated his era in a way that Jakob has never done and never will over Jakob's specialist distances.

How many East Africans was Elliott running against?

From age 20 to up to age 22, Elliott lost around 10 times, at 800m/880y, 1000m, 2 Miles. This was the quote. Any comment to this? That he has not lost at 1500m/Mile as a senior is well known and was even a point in this thread before. Why do you bring it again, Dumb?
And what is your point about Elliott's WRs, Dumb? This also is well known and was discussed earlier.

In 1957 he has not raced outside of Australia, has had no competition against the best from Europe/America. In 1961 his Mile SB was 4:07.2. While he has lost many times in this year, he kept his Mile streak running... (not competing helped a little bit).
Herb Elliott has had two seasons where he raced against the best in the world: 1958 and 1960.
A few years later, his WRs were bettered by big margins.

There wasn't any doping in distance running in that era. So no E Africans.

Yes. You are an idiot. Elliott did not lose as many times as you claim as he very rarely ran his non specialist distances. But since you make that claim, list the races he lost.
This post was edited 6 minutes after it was posted.
Just over 4 years before Elliott's world mile record no one had run under 4 minutes. In 1958 he ran 3:54. In the same span the 1500 record was in the low 3:40's. Elliott ran 3:36, which he later reduced to 3:35. Jakob has been unable to beat world marks for those distances set a quarter of a century ago - even with the best drugs available today. As a 1500 specialist he isn't in the same class as Elliott and will never be the GOAT.

Extremely important to note that a runner who never lost as a senior never lost as senior in against national opposition. A pure Dumb.
In 1958 and in 1960 he has had some strong international competitions, in 1957, 1959 and 1961 not. There were also some good runners from down under at the time, But compare his "winning streak" with guys like
Edwin Moses - close to 10 years in the 400m hurdles (hey, Dumb, this means no Somali has beaten Moses in this period) Carl Lewis - 10 1/2 years in the long jump (hey, Dumb, no junior has beaten lewis in this period) Grant Holloway - 10 years in the 60m hurdles (hey, Dumb, no 40+ athlete has beaten Holloway in this period)
El Guerrouj has lost 5 1500m/Mile races out of well over 100 in the period 1996 - 2004 (since above three it's getting difficult for you: that's 9 seasons, Dumb). 1 after his fall in Atlanta. That's much more worth talking about than Elliott's "win streak". Elliott is famous for his records and his medals - not for his "winning streak" over two seasons and a little bit.
